Student Pep Rally Slated for September 1
Aug. 24, 2016

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Athletics, partnering with the Associated Student Body, will host a pep rally at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Thursday, Sept. 1. The event, which will feature athletics director Ross Bjork and head football coach Hugh Freeze, will begin at 6 p.m.

“The pep rally is an opportunity for our student section to check out the new Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the first time while getting ready for the 2016 football season,” said Ole Miss Athletics Director Ross Bjork. “It also serves as a preview as to what students can expect at Ole Miss football games.”

Along with learning specific cheers used throughout home football games, students can also check out the latest renovations to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. New videoboards, brighter lights and an upgraded sound system have all been added to enhance the gameday experience. The enclosure of the north end zone also increased the stadium’s capacity to 64,038 and will serve as the new home of the student section.

No. 11 Ole Miss will begin the 2016 season in Orlando, Florida, against No. 4 Florida State (Sept. 5, 7 p.m., ESPN). Five days later, the Rebels will host Wofford for their first home game in their newly-renovated stadium (Sept. 10, 3 p.m., SEC Network).
