Football Fan Experience Survey Released
Aug. 24, 2017

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss is famous for its southern hospitality, unique and celebrated tailgating in The Grove, and a bucket-list college football gameday experience. In 2017, that experience will get even better.

"There is no better tool to use when deciding how to improve our gameday experience than quantitative research conducted with our fans," said Michael Thompson, Senior Associate AD for Marketing and Communications. "We are constantly using data to improve fan satisfaction across all areas of the experience, and we are committed to continuing to deliver a bucket-list experience for our fans.

In December 2016, for the seventh consecutive year, an electronic survey was sent via email to Ole Miss football season ticket holders. This year, the survey generated over 2,400 total responses, and the data was segmented into three audiences: 1) fans that sit in general seating areas; 2) fans that sit in premium areas, such as suites or clubs; and 3) student fans that sit in the student section.

Based on the findings, a number of improvements have been implemented to enhance the gameday experience at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this fall. Some of the most notable include:

  • Mobile concessions ordering with fast pick up and kiosk ordering.
  • Nine express refill stations.
  • Bottled water will be sold inside the main gates prior to kickoff.
  • New team store experiences operated by new partner Fanatics.
  • Implementing SEC’s clear bag policy to enhance security and improve gate entry length of wait time.
  • Optimized C Spire Wi-Fi free for all fans in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
  • A completely new app experience for fans in the stadium, including concessions ordering and payment, song requests, photo submission for video board and more.
  • Jake Gibbs Letterwinner Walk opening in September.
  • After every game, the football team will sing the Alma Mater in front of the student section.
