LITTLE ROCK -- Ole Miss co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Dan Werner is among 40 nominees for the 2013 Broyles Award, which honors the nation's top assistant college football coach, it was announced Wednesday.

The Broyles Award winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel in Little Rock, Ark. The Broyles Award is presented by The Rotary Club of Little Rock.

A 29-year coaching veteran, Werner has helped orchestrate an Ole Miss offense that ranks top-five in the SEC and top-25 nationally in both total offense and passing. The Rebels are on pace to break the all-time school records in total yards and yards per game, total plays, first downs, pass attempts and completions and passing yards and yards per game.

As QBs coach, Werner has tutored junior Bo Wallace, who is on pace to break Eli Manning’s school records for total offense, pass attempts and completions in a season. Wallace's interceptions have also dropped from 17 a year ago to just six this season.

The Broyles Award was established in 1996 to honor legendary Arkansas Head Coach Frank Broyles. Coach Broyles had a track record of producing some of the most successful assistant coaches in college football history.
