Bowl Week Report 12.27
Dec. 27, 2015

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Back in the Sugar Bowl for the first time since 1970, the Ole Miss football team was welcomed to the Big Easy Saturday evening by bowl representatives, a band and numerous Rebel fans. Today, the No. 12 Rebels began bowl week practice at the New Orleans Saints training facility to prepare for the New Year’s Day matchup versus No. 16 Oklahoma State (7:30 p.m. CT, ESPN).

Head coach Hugh Freeze met with the media upon arrival, noting that he was looking forward to getting back to business.

“We enjoyed a little time off for Christmas and I am anxiously awaiting our team meeting tonight so I can look our guys in the eyes and remind them why they are here -  to compete against a very good Oklahoma State football team,” Freeze said Saturday night.

During the team meeting, Coach Freeze welcomed the players back and set the expectations for the week. The Rebels listened to their fourth year head coach with a strong practice inside the Saints’ training facility on Sunday.

Following the first practice of the week, the Rebels attended a Sugar Bowl team event at Rock ‘n’ Bowl. Not only did the Rebels showcase their bowling skills, but they also were entertained by a magician and a snake charmer.

While the Rebels enjoyed themselves with the first team event of the bowl week, their focus remained on a the reason they are in New Orleans – to win the Sugar Bowl in the program's ninth appearance.

“We have to focus on winning the game and practicing, that’s what all of our energy and effort really has to go to,” said senior defensive back Mike Hilton.
