STATESBORO, Ga.Freshman Ben Wolcott shot a 1-under par 71 to lead the Ole Miss men's golf team on day two of the Chris Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern University Saturday.

Wolcott, who started the day tied for 48th place, finished the day in a tie  for 33rd with a two-round total of 146. Junior Blake Morris and sophomore Forrest Gamble are tied for 28th place overall, each posting a two-round score of 145.

"We did not take advantage of easy scoring conditions," head coach Ernest Ross said. "We shot 5-over, but half of the field shot under par. We made way too many `shot-making' mistakes. We can and must do better."

As a team, the Rebels shot a 5-over 293, bringing the team's two-day total to 583. Host team Georgia Southern is currently in first place with a score of 14-under 562.

Senior Tom Brown carded a 4-over 76 on day two and is tied for 58th place. Junior Joe Lewis is tied for 77th place after firing a 1-over 73 in the second round.

The third and final round of the Chris Schenkel Invitational tees off tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
