STATESBORO, Ga.Junior Blake Morris fired a 1-under 71 to lead the Ole Miss men’s golf team in the final round of the Chris Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern University Sunday.

Morris, who tied for 15th place, carded a three-round total of even-par 216, posting five birdies in the final round.

“We finished the last six holes in a pretty tough rain,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “We actually played better during the rain. Our first and third rounds were good, but the sluggish second round moved us down in the pack. I was proud of how we fought during the toughest part of the tournament. We have a few weeks off to work on some error correction.”

As a team, the Rebels finished in eighth place, posting a three-round total of 11-over par 875. Host Georgia Southern claimed the tournament title, firing a 14-under par 850.

Freshman Ben Wolcott, who tied for 32nd place, carded a three-round score of 221. Sophomore Forrest Gamble and senior Tom Brown tied for 40th place, each posting a three-round total of 222. Junior Joe Lewis tied for 71st place overall.

The Rebels will return to action on April 7 at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in West Point, Miss.
