Ole Miss Finishes Up Play At Old Waverly Championship
Blake Morris

April 9, 2013

WEST POINT, Miss. - Sophomore Blake Morris carded a 1-over 73 to lead the Rebels in the final round of Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on Tuesday, as Ole Miss finished 11th in the team standings.

After an up and down day yesterday, Morris rebounded with four birdies on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 41st overall with a three-round total of 227. Fellow sophomore Joe Lewis finished in a tie for 27th with a two-day total of 224 after firing a 2-over par 74 on Tuesday. Junior Tom Brown finished one shot behind Lewis in a tie for 34th after turning a third round score of 77 and a three-round total of 226.

"I am very disappointed in our play at this time," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "We gave away too many shots around the green and off the tee. I think we can be a good team, but we have a lot of work to do."

The freshman duo of Connor Davis and Forrest Gamble struggled in the third round after pacing the Rebels on Monday. Davis carded an 80 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 44th with a two-day score of 229 and was joined by Gamble, who shot an 83 in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 229.

Next up, Ole Miss will compete in the SEC Championships beginning April 19 at St. Simons Island, Ga.
