Morris Leads Rebels In First Round At Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Sophomore Blake Morris carded a 1-under 70 in the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship on Friday at the South Course at Vanderbilt Legends Club to push Ole Miss into a tie for second in the team standings.

The Rebels posted a 1-over team total of 285 in the first round and are five shots behind Oklahoma, who holds the team lead with a 4-under 280. Ole Miss is tied with the College of Charleston and is one shot ahead of the host Commodores. Morris is currently tied for 10th, while junior Tom Brown is tied for 15th after firing an even-par 71.

"We are off to a good start," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "The course is in excellent condition and our players look forward to the challenge of competing with the top teams over the next two days."

Fellow freshman Connor Davis and Forrest Gamble both carded a 1-over 72 in the first round and currently sit in a tie for 25th, while sophomore Joe Lewis turned in a 3-over 74 and is tied for 41st.

The second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship continues tomorrow with the Rebels scheduled to tee off beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the South Course at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
