FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Sophomore Blake Morris continued his outstanding play with a 2-under par 69 in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt on the South Couse at Vanderbilt Legends Club on Saturday. Morris is 3-under after two rounds and currently sits in fourth place heading into Sunday’s final round.
Ole Miss entered the day 1-over par and tied for second in the team standings, but faltered and dropped to seventh after posting a team score of 11-over on Saturday. After shooting an even-par 71 in the first round, junior Tom Brown continued his steady play with another even-par round today and is currently tied for 11th.
“Blake and Tom had good days, but the remainder of our team struggled down the stretch,” said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. “It was a combination of bad swings and bad decisions. I am not at all satisfied and neither are our players. We can and must play better.”
Freshman Forrest Gamble posted a 6-over 77 in the second round, while fellow freshman Conner Davis recorded a 7-over 78. Both golfers carded a 1-over 72 in yesterday’s first round. Sophomore Joe Lewis was disqualified from the round.
The third and final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship concludes tomorrow with the Rebels scheduled to tee off beginning at 7:30 a.m. on the South Course at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
