The Ole Miss men's golf team fired a score of 300-301-601 after two rounds of play at the Adam's cup of Newport on Monday, tying for seventh overall with South Florida.
The tournament, which is being played at the par-72, 7,160-yard Newport National Golf Club, will conclude with the final round on Tuesday. Teams will tee off at 8:30 a.m. EST.
Minnesota held the top spot after the first two rounds of play, firing a score of 293-285-578 to hold the lead. The Gophers Justin Smith held the top spot in the individual standings with a score of71-69-140.
Pope Spruiell led the way for the Rebels on the first day, firing a two-round score of 72-75-147 to tie for 12th in the overall standings heading into the final round of competition.
Junior Jarrod Gardner and red-shirt freshman Chris Rogers tied for 33rd in the overall standings after both players carded scores of 152 for the two rounds. Gardner fired a 76-76-152, while Rogers turned in a 78-74-152 for the position.
Freshman Kyle Ellis turned in scores of 74-81-155 for his two rounds of action to place him in a tie for 42nd overall, while junior David Shields carded an 80-76-156 to finish the day in a tie for 46th.
