BATON ROUGE, La. – Sophomore Blake Morris and junior Tom Brown each fired a 6-over 78 in the final round on Sunday to lead the Ole Miss men’s golf team to a sixth-place finish at the David Toms Intercollegiate hosted by LSU.
Morris’ 78 on Sunday at the lengthy 7,578-yard University Club gave him a total of 231 for the weekend and tied him for 17th overall with teammate Joe Lewis, who turned in a 7-over 79 in the final round. Brown finished just behind Lewis and Morris with a three-round total of 232 and tied for 20th overall. Freshman Connor Davis finished in a tie for 31st, while fellow freshman Forrest Gamble tied for 33rd overall.
"The golf course really beat us up,” said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. “It played nearly 7600 yards, had extremely tough pin placements, and cool windy weather today. I was very disappointed we did not have any player handle it well. We took a step backwards this week, but we can still be a good team."
Next up, the Rebels will travel to Cabo San Luas, Mexico for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate beginning Oct. 14.
