Greensboro, N.C. – Sophomore Blake Morris fired a round-low 67 to lead Ole Miss on the first day of the Bridgestone Collegiate hosted by UNC-Greensboro on Saturday.

Morris carded five birdies and an eagle en route to a five-under par 67 in the morning round at the Grandover Resort. He came back to shoot a 1-over 73 in the afternoon and is currently third overall, four shots behind the leader.

As a team, the Rebels posted a score of 8-over par and are fourth after back-to-back rounds of 292 on Saturday. Tennessee-Chattanooga leads the tournament with a team score of 8-under par.

Junior Tom Brown rebounded after a 5-over 77 in the morning with four birdies in the afternoon round to card 2-under 70 and is currently tied for 21st heading into Sunday. Freshman Forrest Gamble finished the day 4-over par and is tied for 27th overall after firing a 1-over 73 in the morning round and a 3-over 75 in the afternoon.

"It was windy and cool, making scoring tough,” said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. “We made too many mistakes --too many bogies and doubles. I was proud of Blake's 67 in the morning and Tom's 70 in the afternoon. We need a good day- two or more players under par. "

Sophomore Joe Lewis posted rounds of 75 in the morning and 74 in the afternoon to finish the day 5-over and tied for 35th. Freshman Connor Davis finished the day 9-over after rounds of 77 and 76 and is tied for 51st overall heading into Sunday’s final round.

The final round of the Bridgestone Collegiate will conclude tomorrow at the Grandover Resort. Fans can follow live scoring by going to OleMissSports.com and clicking on the link in the calendar.
