Kauai'i, Hawaii--Birdies were flying as the Ole Miss men's golf team carded a season-high 35 to contribute to its 9-under score (279) on the second day of the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational. The No. 43 Rebels held their place on the leaderboard with a two-way tie for eighth with No. 47 Colorado. No. 40 Louisville leads the tournament at 41-under over two days.

Senior Kerry Sweeney led the Rebels for the second day in a row after shooting a career-best 8-under (64), a result of carding eight birdies, with five coming in his first nine holes. This puts Sweeney in a three-way tie for sixth place heading into the final round.

Junior Beau Briggs started his second round strong carding back-to-back birdies. The Covington, Louisiana, native added another at the turn to record a 3-under 69, matching his career-best. Briggs will enter the final round in a 10-way tie for 27th.

Fellow juniors, Braden Thornberry and Josh Seiple, carded 1-over rounds. Thornberry found a birdie to open his second round and then landed his first eagle of the season halfway through his back nine. Thornberry will enter the final round in a seven-way tie for 53rd. After starting his round with a double-bogey, Seiple responded to card six birdies, putting him in a four-way tie for 71st.

Another career-best day came from sophomore Chip Getz, who is competing as an individual. The Paradise Valley, Arizona, native carded a 5-under 67, a result of eight birdies with five coming in his last nine holes. Getz will enter the final round in an eight-way tie for 37th. Also competing as an individual is fellow sophomore, Ben Reichert. Reichert found his first eagle as a Rebel to turn in a 74 (+2) and sit in a seven-way tie for 77th.

Ole Miss will return to the Princeville Makai Golf Club for the final round tomorrow beginning at 1:00 p.m. CT.

Malloy's Minute

"We had too many big numbers today that cost us from having a great team score. We certainly made enough birdies, but when you throw in those other holes it doesn't get you very far in a field like this. Kerry Sweeney played exceptionally well all day today. He really came out with a good attitude and played with confidence throughout his entire round. I am looking forward to seeing how these guys come out and compete tomorrow as this will be the final round before our offseason begins."
