OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss men’s golf team will travel to Mobile, Ala., Monday to begin its spring season at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama.
The two-day tournament will be held at the par 72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course and features a field that includes host No. 53 South Alabama, Akron, No. 27 Auburn, UT-Chattanooga, Davidson, Georgia State, Illinois State, No 26 Kentucky, No. 41 Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Ole Miss, Samford, Southern Mississippi, Texas State and No. 28 Wake Forest.
“The tournament in Mobile is a great opportunity for our team,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “We are playing at a 36-hole golf complex. Our team tournament is on the Crossings course, and there is an individual tournament on the Falls course. We will have our top five playing in the team event, and four individuals competing on the Falls course. It is rare to take nine players to a tournament, but starting the spring like this is a great opportunity for our team and our players. “
The Rebel lineup will consist of juniors Blake Morris, Joe Lewis, sophomores Forrest Gamble, Connor Davis and redshirt freshman Drew Comer, who will be making his first tournament appearance this season.
Freshmen Ben Wolcott, Noah West, senior Tom Brown and sophomore Chris Ingham will also make the trip and compete as individuals.
Morris, a native of Waterbury, Conn., led the Rebels in the fall with two top-five finishes, including claiming the individual title at the Graeme McDowell Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
