OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss men’s golf team will travel south of the border to Los Cabos, Mexico, Sunday for the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Methodist University at the Los Cabos Querencia Golf Club.
The three-day tournament features a field that includes the No. 23 host Mustangs, Abilene Christian, No. 2 Alabama, No. 8 Arkansas, Baylor, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, No. 25 Houston, Kentucky, Lamar, No. 22 LSU, Ole Miss, UT-Arlington and Vanderbilt.
The Rebel lineup will consist of junior Blake Morris, sophomore Forrest Gamble, freshmen Ben Wolcott, Connor Davis and junior Joe Lewis.
“This tournament has one of the strongest fields of the season for us,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “What a great challenge. If you want to play big-time college golf, here it is. Our players are looking forward to the test. We know the course well having played there in 2012. It is tight and can be really tough if the wind blows. We are all looking forward to this event.”
Morris, a native of Waterbury, Conn., has posted three top-10 finishes this season, including claiming the individual title at the Shoal Creek Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 1.
Ole Miss won the Querencia Cabo Intercollegiate in 2012. The tournament was shortened to one round due to inclement weather.
