OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss men’s golf team will head to Statesboro, Ga. this weekend for the Schenkel Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern.
The three-round tournament tees off on Friday at the 6,962-yard Forest Heights Golf Course. The second round is set for Saturday and the third and final round is set for Sunday at the par-72 course. The 15-team field includes Ole Miss, host Georgia Southern, Alabama, UAB, Central Florida, College of Charleston, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, North Florida, North Texas, Norte Dame, Texas, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
Ole Miss shot a team total of 858 to place sixth at last year’s Schenkel Invitational and sophomore Blake Morris carded a three-round total of 207 to finish in a tie for seventh. The Rebel lineup this year includes Tom Brown, Morris, Joe Lewis, Forrest Gamble and Chris Ingham.
"We did not get off to a good start last week,” said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. “Our players and coaches know we are better than we showed. The first round will be vital to establishing confidence. We have to believe in ourselves and play like we have been in practice."
