OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men’s golf team will host the sixth annual BancorpSouth Intercollegiate at the Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, Miss., beginning Monday.
Founded in 2004, the 7,416-yard, par 72 Reunion Golf and Country Club was designed by Bopp Cupp and has hosted the 2007 State Amateur Championships, U.S. Amateur Qualifiers and the 2006 U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifier.
"It is a great time in our season when we have the opportunity to host the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate in Madison,” Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross said. “We love the course, and the greens there are always some of the best all year. It will help our attitude to have some warmer weather. Golf teams all across country have struggled to get their games fine-tuned with the exceptionally cold spring. We are excited for our opportunity."
Ole Miss will host a 14-team field that includes Central Arkansas, Chattanooga, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi State, Missouri-Kansas City, UNC Greensboro, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State, Troy and Western Kentucky.
The Rebels come into their home tournament after finishing T9th at the Schenkel Invitational on March 17. Junior Tom Brown led the way finishing T22nd at 4-over par. This weekend the Ole Miss lineup includes Brown, sophomore Blake Morris, freshman Forrest Gamble, sophomore Joe Lewis and freshman Connor Davis.
Ole Miss finished ninth in last year’s BancorpSouth Intercollegiate after shooting a 297 in a tournament that was shorted to one round due to thunderstorms Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
