OXFORD, Miss. - Fresh off a victory at the Hootie at Bulls Bay (March 25-27), the Ole Miss men's golf team will look to take that winning mentality to Gastonia, North Carolina for the Gary Koch Invitational. The tournament begins Monday, April 9 with 36 holes of play before wrapping up with one final round on Tuesday, April 10.

Thirteen teams will play the Gaston Country Club, which measures 7,042 yards at a par 72. Including No. 34 Ole Miss, four teams ranked in Golfstat's top 50 are in the field. No. 11 Auburn and No. 28 Kentucky join the Rebels as the Southeastern Conference's representation in the tournament. Ole Miss will tee off beginning at 6:45 a.m. CT.

Competing for the Rebels will be Brody Blackmon, Josh Seiple, Kerry Sweeney, Braden Thornberry and Cecil Wegener. Blackmon, who celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday, will make his fourth tournament appearance of the season but the first this spring. Seiple is coming off his best finish as a Rebel, shooting 5-under to tie for eighth at the Hootie at Bulls Bay. Sweeney fired a 4-under 68 in his last round, helping Ole Miss shoot a school record 269 (-19) to win the tournament. Thornberry garnered medalist honors with at 13-under (68-69-66--203) to earn SEC Golfer of the Week and become the first golfer in Ole Miss history to reach double figures in wins. He also regained the No. 1 spot in Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com's world rankings. Wegener also played his best golf at The Hootie, using a personal-best 212 (69-76-67) for his first career top-10 finish and his third SEC Freshman of the Week honors of the season.

With the win at the Hootie at Bulls Bay, Ole Miss jumped up the national rankings. The Rebels enter this week's tournament ranked No. 32 in the Golfweek Coaches Poll and the Golfweek/Sagarin standings.

The Gary Koch Invitational begins a three-week stretch to wrap up the regular season. Ole Miss has won the tournament before, claiming the title in 1998 behind a 203 from medalist Haymes Snedeker.
