OXFORD, Miss. - Junior standout Blake Morris will represent the Ole Miss men's golf team at the NCAA Auburn Regional in Auburn, Ala., Thursday.

The regional, hosted by Auburn University, will be held at the par-72, 7,326-yard course at the Auburn University Club.

The Waterbury Conn., native led the Ole Miss men’s golf team with a 71.25 stroke average and finished in the top-20 in eight of 11 tournaments, including four top-five finishes. He claimed his first individual title as a Rebel back in the fall at the Shoal Creek Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., with a three-round total of 8-under par.

"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament this week and representing Ole Miss," Morris said. " Coach (Nick) Biershenk and I make a great team and I believe I am ready to make a run in the postseason this year. I'm also grateful for the support my parents have given me, without them I wouldn't be here."

"I am very excited to be with Blake this week at the Auburn Regional," interim head coach Nick Biershenk said. "The golf course sets up well for him, and I believe he's prepared to have a great tournament. He made it to regionals last year but came up two shots short of making it to the national championship. He's been in this position before and knows what to expect."

Joining Morris in the individuals selected to participate in the regional include: JD Tomlinson, Florida; Jared Bettcher, Troy; Marco Iten, Austin Peay; Theodore Lederhausen, Harvard.

Teams competing in the Auburn seeded in order include Alabama, Virginia Tech, Texas, Auburn, New Mexico, BYU, Kennesaw State, Colorado, Louisville, UNC-Greensboro, UC Davis, Sam Houston State, St. John’s and Alabama State.

Five teams from each regional and one individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will take place May 23-28 at the Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
