OXFORD, Miss. - After winning the first tournament of the season two weeks ago at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, the Ole Miss men's golf team looks to continue its hot start at the 12th annual Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt beginning on Friday.
The three-day tournament will be held at the par-71, 7,100-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club South Course and features a field that includes the host Commodores, Arkansas State, Charleston, Davidson, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Mississippi State, MTSU, Oklahoma, Rice, South Alabama, ETSU, Tennessee Tech and Virginia. The Rebels finished runner-up at last year's Mason Rudolph and have captured the team title twice.
"We are off to a good start, after our win at Southern Miss last week," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "We have had great enthusiasm in our practices this week, and we have prepared for the factors that this new course presents. I look for a very good performance this week. We have a young team but we are talented and hard working."
The Ole Miss five-some will include Blake Morris, Tom Brown, Joe Lewis, Connor Davis and Forrest Gamble. Morris, a sophomore from Waterbury, Conn., posted the best finish of his career at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 207 to finish third overall. Lewis carded a 4-under 67 on the final day to propel the Rebels to the victory, while Brown posted a top-20 finish (T17) with a three-round total of 217.
