OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss men’s golf team is headed to Music City this weekend for the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
The Rebels have had success there recently, winning the event in 2006 and 2007, while senior Jonathan Randolph is the defending medalist. He won last year’s rain-shortened championship with a 64-67--131.
“Our team is ready to earn a little redemption after our rusty start the first tournament,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “We have a good bit of experience on the course at Vanderbilt. Our players are excited to return there. We’ve won there in the past, and we have good vibes there.”
In addition to Randolph, who has played the course a few times, junior Joe David grew up nearby in Madison, and sophomore Billy Brozovich played in the tournament last year. Rounding out the Rebel lineup is sophomore Pete Kellermann and redshirt freshman Thomas Watkins.
Watkins, son of former All-American Randy Watkins, will be making his debut for the Rebels.
Among the other teams joining the Rebels and host Vanderbilt in the field are Chattanooga, Memphis, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, South Alabama and South Carolina.
Live scoring for all three days will be available by going to www.OleMissSports.com and clicking on the link on the men’s golf schedule page.
