OXFORD, Miss. -
Ole Miss men's tennis came out and took the early momentum against LSU and never relinquished it, winning the doubles point and posting straight set wins at four, five and six singles to come away with a 4-1 victory here Sunday at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.

The 24th-ranked duo of Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, and then Gustav Hansson and Finn Reynolds won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles to clinch the point and a 1-0 lead for the Rebels.

Ole Miss kept the momentum going in singles winning four first sets. Senior Grey Hamilton finished off a straight set win against LSU's Julian Saborio 6-1, 6-4 on court four to make it 2-0 Rebels.

LSU's only point on the day came at No. 3 singles, but that would be it as junior Filip Kraljevic downed Agie Moreo 6-2, 6-2 on court six and then Fabian Fallert closed out a 6-1, 6-2 win against Nikola Smardzic on court five to clinch the victory.

At the Net with Head Coach Toby Hansson...
"We had great energy in doubles. With this being our first outdoor match of the year, we handled it quite well. Getting that doubles point was big. It was really good to see us stay focused throughout the match and finish off some of the courts very quickly."

On Fabi, Grey and Filip...
"Fabi did a great job of closing out his match to clinch. Grey is maintaining a very high level right now. LSU has solid players in the middle of their lineup, and we did a great job at those spots. It was also really nice to see Filip close his guy out. He needed that to get going and it was good for the team as well."

On Getting a Split this Weekend...
"Every match in this league is going to be close, so we have to be consistent with our effort, attitude and energy. If we can do those things well all the time, we'll see a lot of success this year."

Junior Fabian Fallert
"It was important for us to come out with good energy in doubles, and we did that. Going into the singles we had pretty good momentum. We knew on paper that we were favored, but it's never easy to go out there and play as the favorite. We had a similar situation last year and didn't get it done, but this time we took care of business. Coming from playing indoors Friday to outdoors today and only have one day to get ready outside, we did a pretty good job of adjusting to the different conditions and stayed mentally tough."

Junior Grey Hamilton
"Last year we were one point away from a 4-0 win and let it get away from us. It's always nice to get revenge, especially for those of us who were here last year. It was good to bounce back from a tough match against a top 10 team on Friday and come out here and get a quick win.
