All about the ITA Kick-Off…
The 10th annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend takes place January 26-29, 2018, at 24 different Division I tennis facilities across the country. In all, there are 60 teams competing for both men’s and women’s in ITA Kick-Off Weekend events.

There are 15 “regionals” played on both the men’s and women’s side, with four teams competing in each regional. The winners of the single-elimination event advance to next month’s ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships. Wisconsin (women's) and Washington (men's) will serve as hosts for the National Team Indoors and received automatic invitations to the event, and are exempt from competing in the Kick-Off Weekend.

Last Time Out…
Ole Miss began the season last weekend taking a 5-2 win from Southern Miss and a 4-0 win against Troy. The Rebels came back the next day and swept a pair from Alcorn State. Sophomore Tim Sandkaulen went 3-0 in singles to improve to a team-leading 12-3 overall. He also teamed up with junior Fabian Fallert to go 3-0 at No. 1 doubles. Gustav Hansson won all three of his matches at No. 1 singles without dropping set to improve to 6-1 on the year. Freshman Finn Reynolds made his debut for the Rebels and went 1-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles.

Rebels in the Rankings…
The Rebels boast four players in the singles rankings led by 14th-ranked Sandkaulen. Hansson is ranked No. 32, Zvonimir Babic is ranked No. 69 and Filip Kraljevic is ranked No. 86. In doubles, Babic and Kraljevic are ranked No. 20.

Scouting Columbia…
After dropping the doubles point last Saturday against Old Dominion, Columbia bounced back to top the Monarchs, 4-3, during the opening match of the spring at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center. Victor Pham, Jack Lin, Alex Keyser and Timothy Wang posted wins in singles play, as the Lions moved to 1-0 on the spring. Pham is ranked No. 19 in singles and Jackie Tang is ranked No. 38 and teams with Pham for a No. 15 ranking in doubles.

Rebels vs. Lions…
The Rebels lead the all-time series with Columbia 2-1. The Lions defeated the Rebels 4-1 in the last meeting on May 9, 2015 in the second round of the NCAA Championships. This will be the first of two meetings this year against Columbia, as the Rebels will travel to New York Feb. 11 to face the Lions at the Dick Savitt Club.

Looking at Texas Tech and Virginia…
Virginia is off to a 2-0 start with identical 4-3 wins against Richmond and Temple, while Texas Tech comes in at 9-1 with their only loss to No. 21 Florida State.

At the Net with Head Coach Toby Hansson
“This is a big weekend for us and something that we all have been looking forward to for some time. Now it’s time for us to step it up and take it to our opponents. There are four very even teams competing for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor and the team that wants it the most will make it through.”
