Multi-Purpose Arena Initiative
The centerpiece of the Forward Together campaign is the construction of a brand new state-of-the-art multi-purpose arena. The arena will have a capacity of 9,500 fans and will include a number of first class amenities. The arena will include a private student concourse, courtside and baseline seating for students, three premium club areas for fans, and over 1,700 premium seats all within an intimate seating bowl. The arena will also include a five story parking garage with 800 spaces that will service the entire campus community. The arena will be located on the west side of Vaught Hemingway Stadium in the space currently occupied by the Rebel Shop and the parking lot. The placement of the arena is a long-term decision and will allow us to further enhance our athletics complex – better connecting athletics to the heart of the best campus in higher education. This centralized location will create an impressive “front door” for Ole Miss Athletics and a destination point not only on a game day – but every day of the week.
Indoor Practice Facility Initiative
Enhancements to the Indoor Practice Facility (IPF) were accelerated in the campaign and these projects have already begun as a part of the Forward Together campaign. A new team meeting room, a full service dining facility, and expansion of the weight room are currently under construction. The facility will also feature a new lobby area that will showcase the history of Ole Miss Football. The renovated locker room and a new halftime locker room have already been completed. The remaining Indoor Practice Facility projects will be finished in early 2014. When complete the IPF will be one of the finest practice facilities in the nation.
Vaught Hemingway Stadium Initiative
As part of the Forward Together campaign, Vaught Hemingway stadium will be expanded and enhanced. The expansion will include the addition of suites and club seats, as well as the bowling in of the north endzone. The goal of the north endzone expansion will be to create an impressive north entry point to Hollingsworth Field – A true connection to the historic Grove as part of our “front door” vision
While there are many details to complete – we are focused on finishing these projects as soon as possible. The stadium enhancements include improvements to the concourses, concession areas, and restrooms of the stadium. In addition, the premium areas will continue to be improved. The renovation of the sidelines and addition of the field suites has already been completed for the 2013 season. All of these upgrades will be completed to improve the ascetics of Vaught Hemingway Stadium and enhance the gameday experience for our fans.
Other Facility Initiatives
Other Facility Initiatives include the re-development of the historic Starnes Center, the Gillom Center and the FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center. As the north endzone complex is finalized, all of these facilities will experience a transformation. More information on these facility projects will be released in the coming months.
