Forward Together Gets Lift From Freeze, Hits $45 Million

Dec. 19, 2011

OXFORD, Miss. – Since the hiring of Hugh Freeze as the Rebels’ 37th head football coach just three weeks ago, the Forward Together campaign has felt the Ole Miss family’s renewed sense of energy and optimism and reached another milestone, hitting the $45 million mark.

“There is no doubt that Coach Freeze has re-energized our fan base, and that we can attribute recent CGA commitments and capital gifts to the newest member of the Ole Miss family,” said Danny White, UMAA Foundation Executive Director.  “Additionally, the performance of our basketball team has people really excited about the future of that program, and when you couple that with the prospect of a brand new, state-of-the-art basketball facility, our fans see that we are on the verge something really special.”

Another surge in commitments is anticipated as the January 6 deadline to sign and return football CGAs approaches.

“For those who have seats in CGA sections and want to retain those seats for the future, it’s really important that they sign and return their CGA by January 6,” White said.

For those interested in premium seating options in the new arena, the January 6 deadline is vital for purposes of priority when it comes time to select seats in the facility.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the new arena and the interest in premium seating and hospitality areas has been tremendous,” said White.

Similar to a Personal Seat License (PSL), commonly found in professional leagues, the Capital Gift Agreement (CGA) provides donors some ownership over their seats.  With benefits like transfer rights and donation guarantees for 10 years, CGA holders acquire rights that are not common in college athletics.

In addition to capital gift commitments through the CGA program, the UMAA Foundation continues to seek philanthropic support for the campaign.

“We are having some great conversations with individuals who want to step up and provide leadership gifts to make sure this campaign is a success,” White said. “They see this as an opportunity to establish their legacy and help usher in a new era in Ole Miss Athletics, very similar to the exemplary commitment recently made by Will Galtney to our tennis program.  In time we expect to be announcing similar gifts to the Forward Together campaign.”

Contributions to the campaign can be made by committing to a CGA for football and/or basketball seating.  In addition, 100 percent tax deductible donations can be made through either the Five Star Fund or Vaught Society.  For more information, please contact the UMAA Foundation at (662) 915-7159 or visit www.forwardtogetherrebels.com.
