Ole Miss Women’s Basketball … Catching Up With …

First and Last Name: Gail Eaves

Maiden Name: Crick

Name of spouse: Richard Eaves

Names and ages of children: Amber Eaves, 24, Colby Eaves, 17, Krysten Eaves, 14

Where are you currently living? Louisville, Miss. How far will you travel for the reunion? About 200 miles.

Are you currently working? Tell us about your job or current occupation. Yes, I am a Certified Public Accountant and am co-owner of public accounting firm in Louisville Miss.

What other sports/hobbies/activities are you interested in? Just my family work and church.

What do you miss the most about Ole Miss/Oxford? I miss the friends I made while at Ole Miss and Oxford.

How did you first become interested in basketball?  At my school most of the girls played basketball.  Once I started playing I loved it.  I had a great high school coach that helped me to develop my skills.

What is your favorite thing about basketball? It is a fun sport to play.  I am competitive and basketball is a very competitive sport.  I also love that it is a team sport.

Do you have a favorite team?  Well besides the Ole Miss Lady Rebels…. I enjoy watching all college games-enjoyed Kentucky men’s team last year.

What is your favorite memory from playing basketball at Ole Miss?  There are so many memories!  I enjoyed each season but would probably say that the SEC Championship was my favorite memory.  It was so challenging and the team responded each time with whatever it takes to get the job done.

What do you feel has been your greatest accomplishment since graduating? Being a mother to my three children.  I certainly find myself overwhelmed because it is a challenge (those teenage years) but there is nothing like it.

If you could go back, what is one thing that you would do differently?  Relax more and not get so stressed about everything.  Enjoy the moment!

Do you have any interesting stories?  There was the time that we were running because we were “lackadaisical” per Coach Chancellor and he said on the count of 3 we are going to run down and back.  He started counting-1, 2, and Kristen Goehring shouts out do we start on the beginning of the three or the ending of the three……He was NOT amused.  She was being sincere.

Coach was punctual-which means he is about 15 minutes ahead of everyone.  Bridget, our trainer, got to the bus right on time and he had left her.  She was furious!  She caught a cab to the Coliseum.
