Rebels Fall to No. 12 Texas A&M
The Ole Miss women's basketball team couldn't match No. 12 Texas A&M, falling 62-48 Monday night at The Pavilion to the Aggies.

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will honor the 2016-17 senior class on Sunday when it takes on Texas A&M. Tipoff is set for 4 pm from The Pavilion at Ole Miss. The game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.

1. Despite a career night from Madinah Muhammad with 26 points, Ole Miss dropped its second straight game, 100-65, to Missouri in Columbia, Mo, on Thursday night. Muhammad led the offense with 26 points and tallied career-best seven rebounds while Shandricka Sessom added 11 points for her third straight game in double figures.

2. Madinah Muhammad recorded her seventh 20-point game in career fashion with 26 points. Her 26 points marked her eighth game in double figures in the last nine games and her 18th game in double figures this season. Muhammad leads the offense with 13.6 points per game and is averaging 15.8 points per game over the last nine games.

3. Shandricka Sessom tallied her third straight game in double figures with 11 points at Missouri. Sessom is averaging 12.7 points per game this season and has reached double figures on 22 occasions this season. She is 12 points away from becoming the 28th 1,000-point scorer and first to do it as a junior since Valencia McFarland.
4. Sophomore Alissa Alston had been a spark of the bench over the last three games. The New Haven, Conn., native had reached double figures in two of the last three games and is averaging 11.3 points over the course of the last three games. Alston has reached double figures in eight games this season and in five of the last eight games.

5. Sunday’s game marks the final home game for Ole Miss’ senior class. Bretta Hart and Shequila Joseph were members of Coach Insell’s first recruiting class and became the first senior class since the 2010 class to reach the postseason. Erika Sisk has been on the team since 2014 while Manuel is a graduate transfer.

Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M Notables
-Sunday’s game will be the eighth meeting between the teams with Texas A&M leading the series, 7-1. The Aggies have won the last five meetings between the teams and holds a 2-0 lead in games played in Oxford.  

-Ole Miss all-time leading scorer, Peggie Gillom-Granderson knows a thing or two about Texas A&M as she served as head coach of the Aggies from 1998-03. Gillom played at Ole Miss from 1977-80 and scored 2,486 points which is the most for a Rebel basketball player, male or female.

A Win Would
-Give Ole Miss its 17th win of the season – the most since Ole Miss posted 19 in 2014-15.

-Give Ole Miss its sixth SEC win – the most since earning seven SEC wins in 2014-15, which are the most SEC wins in the Insell era.

Rebels By The Numbers
2- Number of double-digit comebacks Ole Miss has made this season. Ole Miss rallied from 13 points down to defeat Tennessee and in its last outing came back from 12 points down to defeat Georgia. The 13-point comeback was the largest in the Insell era and the largest since a 16-point comeback against Vanderbilt in 2011.

11.2-Number of points Alissa Alston is averaging over the last three games. Alston is averaging 7.3 points per game off the bench.

12- Number of points Shandricka Sessom is away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone. She will become the 28th 1,000-point scorer and the first to do it as a junior since Valencia McFarland in 2012-13

26-Number of points Madinah Muhammad had against Missouri. The 26 points are a career high and marks her seventh 20-point outing this season.

55- Number of games the Ole Miss senior class has won. The 2016-17 seniors have also reached the postseason – the first class since the 2010 class to play in postseason.

Texas A&M enters Sunday’s game with a 19-9, 9-6 record after falling to South Carolina 80-64 on Thursday. The loss was the third straight for the Aggies. Danni Williams leads a quartet in double figures with 17.5 points per game. Joining Williams in double figures is Khaalia Hillsman (16.8) , Curtyce Knox (11.2) and Anriel Howard (10.2). Howard is averaging a double-double with 10.2 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. On the season, Texas A&M is averaging 71.5 points per game and 38.3 rebounds per game.

Ole Miss enters Sunday’s game with a 16-12, 5-10 SEC record after falling to Missouri, 100-65 on Thursday. Shandricka Sessom and Madinah Muhammad continue to lead Ole Miss from the floor. Muhammad leads the way with 13.6 points per game while Sessom isn’t far behind with 12.7 points per game. A duo leads Ole Miss on the glass. Shandricka Sessom is averaging 5.9 rebounds per game while Joseph is grabbing 5.2 boards per game. Sessom has posted four double-doubles on the season, most recently recording 14 points and 11 rebounds against Tennessee, while Joseph tallied her second career double-double with 15 points and a career-best 13 rebounds against the Razorbacks. Shelby Gibson is Ole Miss’ top scoring freshman with 6.5 points per game.

Ole Miss will head to Greenville, SC for the 2017 SEC Tournament next week. Play opens on Wednesday at 11 AM. The Rebels are likely locked into the No. 11 spot as Alabama holds the tiebreaker with the Rebels, meaning Ole Miss will open SEC Tournament action on Wednesday March 1 at approximately 1:30 against the No. 14 seed Arkansas.
