OXFORD, Miss. – Head women’s basketball coach Matt Insell has announced the addition of Jillian Samuels to his staff as video coordinator.
Most recently during the 2012-13 season, Samuels served as the assistant director of player development at SMU.
“I’ve been following Jillian’s young career over the last few years and she is somebody I have a lot of respect for and who comes highly recommended from her peers,” Insell said. “We are excited to have her join us here at Ole Miss. Her playing experience at SMU will not only help us move our film situation to the next level but also will give valuable insight into today’s athlete.”
Prior to SMU, Samuels spent two seasons, 2010-12, at Midwestern State where she served on the coaching staff as graduate assistant and most recently an assistant coach.
Samuels played collegiately at SMU from 2006-10. She holds the school record for three pointers in a season with 72 and in a career with 249. Samuels ended her career having made three postseason appearances (one NCAA and two WNIT), as well as three 20-win seasons during her time with the Mustangs.
She is a member of the WBCA and the Lettermen’s Committee at SMU.
Samuels graduated from SMU with a BA in English and earned her Master’s degree in 2012 from Midwestern State in Sports Administration.
