Throughout the summer months members of the Ole Miss women’s basketball team will share their thoughts on a host of ideas with our weekly feature “Roll Call with the Rebels” This week, rising junior Gracie Frizzell sits down with OleMissSports.com
Gracie Frizzell is entering her junior season and has seen her fair share of adversity during her time at Ole Miss. The Little Rock, Ark., native saw action in just six games her freshman year before being shelved due to a knee injury but she has bounced back to be a regular contributor for the Rebels. Frizzell and her teammates have dealt with some adversity but Frizzell always has a smile on her face. Known as the Rebel’s “sharpshooter” Frizzell answers a few questions in this week’s edition of Roll Call with the Rebels.
Q: What are you most looking forward to heading into next season?
Frizzell: Heading into next season, I am looking forward to being able to grow relationships with the new girls that are coming in and also continue to grow relationships with my current teammates. Being able to have a team that is more like family is something that is crucial for our performance as a unit on and off of the basketball court.
Q: What are some personal and team goals that you and your teammates have for next season?
Frizzell: Personally, my goals for this season are to help lead these women in each aspect of life, whether it is in the classroom, in personal relationships, or on the court. I want to do whatever it takes for this team to be successful because I care about these girls, this program, and this great university. As a team, we strive each day to continue to mature our skills and develop new skills to help us make it to the top. Coach Matt (Insell) expects big things from us, as do we in ourselves as a team. We are working towards helping this program win championships every day.
Q: What is one word that people might use to describe you?
Frizzell: One word people my describe me as is determined. I have very high expectations for myself, I know what I want in life, and I understand the hard work and commitment that it takes for me to get to where I want to be.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do on your off days?
Frizzell: On our off days, you will find me at the pool! I absolutely love being outside, and getting a nice little tan never hurt anyone!!
Q: If you didn’t play basketball what would you do?
Frizzell: Basketball is a huge part of my life. I picked up a basketball in the seventh grade, and I haven't put it down since! However, if I wasn't playing basketball, I would probably play every intramural sport that was offered at Ole Miss, and I would compete in cross-fit competitions. I would also run triathlons and try and be a personal trainer to make some money while being in school.
