The Ole Miss women's basketball continued its preseason practices on Thursday, as it prepares for its season opener on Nov. 8 against Jacksonville State.
"After today, it's a big sign to me that we have a chance to have a really good basketball team," head coach Matt Insell said. "We just have to keep improving. We made a lot of improvements over the last five practices, and I'm really excited about that."
Insell has set a goal to be the fastest team in the country on offense and defense, and in practice. He and his staff are teaching the Rebels not only how to play fast, but also playing within the system as they're play fast and not allowing fatigue to cause mental mistakes.
"They're getting there," Insell said of the tempo. "Strength and conditioning coach John Simmons does an unbelievable job with them. I keep telling them, they're in shape. It's all mental right now for them to know that they can go down and back, down and back.
"From Tuesday to today, I have seen a big difference, and they're starting to break through mental blocks. I'm really excited about where we can go and even more convinced that we can play the style of play that we want to play."
