ORLANDO, Fla. - Senior Ericka Schneider fired a team-leading 71 today while Stani Schiavone carded a 72 to lead Ole Miss on day one of the UFC Challenge hosted by UCF at the RedTrail Golf Club.
After one round of play, Ole Miss is tied for 10th (8-over 296) as a team out of the 18-team field. South Carolina leads the field after one round, carding a 4-under 284.
Overall, I am pleased with our start," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "As a team, we hit a lot of greens in regulation and gave ourselves opportunities to make birdies. Where we can improve and compete is to keep focused on the present shot. Each of them had one breakdown of their process and it cost them one to three shots today. Our goal tomorrow is the same - keep focused on the process and win every shot."
Schneider recorded three birdies on her first nine holes to help her end the day with a 1-under 71 and a tie for 13th place after one round. Schiavone, who was making her Rebel debut, carded a 72 on the day, recorded four birdies on day one, two on the front nine and two on the back nine.
Ole Miss will tee off tomorrow, starting with Rubin who tees off at 9:09 a.m. CT. Rubin will be followed by Fowler, Newton, Schiavone and Schneider in nine-minute increments. Follow the action with live stats on GolfStat.com.
