Schiavone Leads Rebels To Another Top-10 Finish

MESA, Ariz. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team finished ninth out of 16 teams to record its second top-10 finish in as many spring tournaments at the Clover Cup at Longbow Golf Course.

Ole Miss ended the tournament 42-over 906 but the team saved its best round for the final round, carding an 8-over 296 today for the fourth-lowest round of any team today.

Individually, Stani Schiavone led Ole Miss the second consecutive day, carding a 72 today to finish the tournament with her highest finish as a Rebel, eighth out of 94 golfers. She ended the tournament with a 216 (73-71-72).

No. 5 Oklahoma won the Clover Cup, firing a 2-under 862. Individually, Tulsa’s Kristina Merkle fired a 6-under in today’s final round to move from a tie for 10th to win the individual title (72-72-66—210).

Abby Newton also carded a 72 for Ole Miss in its final round while Ericka Schneider shot a 3-over 75.

Ole Miss has a quick turnaround to its next tournament as the Rebels will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to play in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, March 12-13 at Kane‘ohe Klipper Golf Course. Teams will play 36 holes on Tuesday, followed by 18 holes on Wednesday.
