Women's Golf Turns In Fourth-Place Finish

HONOLULU, Hawaii - The Ole Miss women's golf team finished play in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational Wednesday with a fourth-place finish, the Rebels' highest finish of the 2012-13 season.

Ole Miss ended the two-day tournament with a 49-over 913 (306-300-307). The Rebels finished behind Gonzaga, Ohio State and the tournament winner, Arizona.

Individually, Ole Miss' Abby Newton, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, earned her first career top-10 finish in a team tournament, placing ninth and carding a six-over 222 (74-69-79).

Stani Schiavone recorded a top-20 finish for the Rebels, finishing in a tie for 16th in the 92-player field. She carded a 12-over 228.

Kathryn Fowler, who was competing as an individual in the tournament, recorded her first career top-20 finish for Ole Miss, finishing in a tie for 20th with a 13-over 229.

Ole Miss' next tournament is the LSU Classic March 22-24.
