AUGUSTA, Ga. –
Sophomore Martina Flori fired the lowest tournament score and logged the best finish of her Ole Miss career to lead the Rebels to a tie for seventh place at the 3M Augusta Invitational.

Flori finished 1-over par in Round 3 for a total score of 75-72-73--220, topping her previous career-best of 222, set at the Lady Bulldog Invitational a year ago. The Montecatini Terme, Italy native finished tied for eighth in Augusta, besting her 10th-place finish in the Lady Bulldog. Flori outplayed three of GolfStat’s top-100 golfers.

“Marti played really well this week,” said head coach Kory Henkes. “She notched her best finish as an Ole Miss Rebel, which is exciting to see. She has been working really hard on her putting and mental game, which is why we are seeing lower scores from her. Marti has a bright golf career ahead of her, and I think this is just the confidence booster that she needed.”

Flori has been putting together a strong spring campaign as the only Rebel to finish in the top 40 of all four events. But this weekend at Forest Hills Golf Club, her short game fell in line, and she claimed her second career top-10 and third top-20 finish. She overcame a bogey late in the day but recovered with a birdie and four straight pars.

“I made some very important putts that gave me momentum to finish strong,” Flori said. “I've been working very hard lately, and my ball striking has been very good for the past four tournaments. My putts finally went in yesterday and today, and that's why I finished in the top 10. I'm happy with this result and will keep working hard on the things that didn't go well this week for the next tournament.”

All five Rebels finished in the top 50 for the third time this season. Outside of Flori, freshman Pi-Lillebi Hermansson was strongest on the final day. The Djursholm, Sweden native came through with her best round of the tournament at 3-over par (75).

Ole Miss finished in a three-way tie for the seventh spot with East Tennessee State and Daytona State College at 301-298-308--907.

“We are all disappointed in today's finish but each player is making small improvements each week,” Henkes said, “and that is very promising for the future of our program.”
