TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Senior Sara Grantham shot a 2-under 69 and is third overall at the SEC Championships, but it was not enough as the Ole Miss women's golf team finished the second round with a 298 to drop to eighth in the standings at NorthRiver Yacht Club.

"Some days just build character in a team, and today was one of those days," head coach Michele Drinkard said.  "We didn't execute quite as well today, and as a result didn't score as well.

"Sara played really well today from tee to green and stayed patient all day.  Finally on the last hole it paid off as she made a downhill, swinging right to left 30-footer for birdie.  Tomorrow is a new day and we will be ready to tee it up."

At 139, Grantham trails Marina Alex of Vanderbilt by three.   Freshman Haley Sanders was right there with Grantham on day one, but a second-round 74 left her at 144 and tied for 19th.    Sophomore Ashley Lance shot 77, and Haley Millsap carded a 78 to round out the Rebels.

Alabama fired a 6-under-par 278 to move into a tie for first place Saturday with Vanderbilt, who shot 281.  The Crimson Tide moved up five places to tie Vanderbilt at 3-under (565) through two rounds. Alabama's 278 tied for the best single round in SEC Championship history.  Arkansas closed out the day three strokes off the lead with a 288 in third place while Georgia fell out of first with a 291 to fall six strokes off the pace at 3-over for the tournament and into fourth.

Ole Miss will tee off the final round Sunday beginning at 9:20 a.m.  Fans can follow all the action by going to www.OleMissSports.com and clicking on the live stats link in the Rebel Hub.
