DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Ole Miss women's golf team was in a position to make the championship bracket of the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Sunday after the first round of qualifying, with a 300. But the second round was not kind to the Rebels, as they posted a 323 to finish 14th at the Legends Course at LPGA International.
The Rebels will face 11th-seeded TCU in Monday's Consolation Match Play Bracket.
Freshman Haley Sanders led the Rebels with a 75-78--153 in her collegiate debut. The Rogers, Ark., native tied for 42nd in the individual standings. Senior Sara Grantham shot a 74 in the first round, but a second round 80 left her at 154 and tied for 46th.
Sophomore Haley Millsap carded a 75-83--158, sophomore Ashley Lance finished with a 76-82--158, and sophomore Kirsty Rands tallied a 82-83-165 to round out the Rebels.
The University of Florida Gators will be seeded No. 1 in the Championship Bracket, as they edged South Carolina to win the 36-hole qualifying. Cydney Clanton of Auburn captured the individual title with a 36 hole total of 142 (-2).
