NORMAN, Okla. – Junior Natalie Gleadall shot a 1-under 71 to lead the 14th-ranked Ole Miss women’s golf team to a 294 on day two of the Suzie Maxwell Berning Classic here at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club.
Gleadall was 1-over through 15 holes and then birdied two of her last three to move up to fifth in the individual standings. She is seeking her second consecutive top-five finish after winning the Cougar Classic last week.
“On moving day, we finished strong on our last four holes,” head coach Michele Drinkard said. “Natalie led the way for us finishing her last four holes at 2-under par. She is really striking the ball well, and it’s fun to watch. It was nice to see Christina bounce back too. She made a great par on No. 9 from 130 yards and then reeled off three birdies in the final five holes.”
Host Oklahoma (ranked No. 13) shot even par 288 for a two-day total of 575 and leads Arkansas (580) by five. Ole Miss is third at 591.
“With a little maintenance work on the range and some short game preparation, we will be ready to finish strong tomorrow,” Drinkard said.
The final round begins Sunday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Fans can follow live scoring by going to www.OleMissSports.com and clicking on the link on the women's golf schedule page.
