WILMINGTON, NC – After play was suspended yesterday due to Hurricane Sandy, the rain continued overnight on the Country Club of Landfall’s Jack Nicklaus course and the third and final round set to begin this morning at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, NC was cancelled.

Using just Friday’s complete round scores, Oklahoma State was declared with winner, finishing with a 293 score, one stroke in front of Duke and two strokes ahead of Purdue and Texas Tech. Texas Tech senior Kim Kaufman was the medalist with a 5-under-par 67 in the first round.

Golfers played anywhere from 9-11 holes in round two yesterday before the rain forced the play to be stopped for the day.

Ole Miss finished the 17-team tournament in 15th place based on its first round scores from Friday (21-over 309). The Rebels finished the fall season in the top-15 of each of the four tournaments they played in, including a second-place finish at the Tar Heel Invite.

Ericka Schneider fired a 1-over 73 Friday to lead the Rebels and finish in a tie for 15th out of 90 participants. Haley Sanders carded 6-over 78 while Taelor and Alison Hovatter each carded a 7-over 79. Abby Newton turned in an 8-over 80 while Kathryn Fowler, who competed as an individual, ended the day with a 5-over 77.

The Landfall Tradition marked the final fall tournament for the Rebels. Ole Miss’ next competition will be Feb. 10-12 at the UCF Challenge in Sorrento, Fla.
