WILMINGTON, N.C. – Junior Haley Sanders shot a 4-over 76 to move into the top-20, as windy conditions dominated the second round of play at the Landfall Tradition.

The Rebels fell to 15th place in the team standings, shooting a 321 for the day.  

“One round does not define this team,” said Ole Miss head coach Michele Drinkard.  “True, the golf course brought us to our knees and didn't offer us a hand to get back up.  That part will be left up to us.  As a coach I am interested to see how they respond in the final round.”

Purdue leads the tournament after firing the best round of the day, a 303.  The Boilermakers hold a two-stroke lead over second place No. 3 Auburn.

Beginning the round on the 10th, Sanders sat at 4-over after her first nine holes.  But the Rogers, Ark., native shot an even-par on her final nine of the day to move into a tie for 16th place.  

Freshman Taelor Rubin improved from a tough first round to shoot a 78—an eight-stroke improvement from Friday.

“Haley and Taelor played well and used their short games to make a lot of pars in the windy, cold weather.”
