OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team will travel to Auburn, Ala., to participate in the NCAA Women’s Golf East Regional May 9-11 at the Auburn University Club.

This year’s appearance by the Rebels is the program’s fifth-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and ninth overall.

Ole Miss’ lineup includes Abby Newton, Alison Hovatter, Ericka Schneider, Taelor Rubin and Stani Schiavone.

“I’m glad to have finals finished so we can focus on the tournament,” head coach Michele Drinkard said.  “I felt like this regular season we had numerous injuries and the team played very conservative as a result. Now that we are healthy, our goal is to play aggressive and absolutely go for it.”

On Thursday, Ole Miss will tee off from tee No. 1 starting at 12:55 p.m. while on Friday, the team will tee off from tee No. 10 starting at 8:25 a.m. Saturday’s tee times will be based on how the team’s finish.

Ole Miss posted four top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish, during its spring season.  This year, the Rebels are led by Schneider who has a 75.51 stroke average and Newton who has a 76.00 stroke average.  Both have also posted a fourth-place finish during the year.

Schiavone was Ole Miss’ top finisher at the SEC Championships, finishing in a tie for 14th while Hovatter and Rubin have competed in nine and eight tournaments, respectively, this year for the Rebels.

Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 9-11 to determine the championships field. Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition, and all national championships policies apply.

A total of 378 participants have been selected for regional competition. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.

The championships finals will be held May 21-24 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., and will be hosted by Georgia.
