OXFORD, Miss. – After helping lead the Rebels to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, Ole Miss head women’s golf coach, Michele Drinkard has promoted assistant coach Janell Howland to associate head coach.

“During Janell's three years at Ole Miss she has contributed a tremendous amount to our success and I’m excited to announce her promotion to associate head coach,” said Drinkard. “As coaches, we were instantly able to work well together because we share the same beliefs and vision for the team.  With Janell by my side, I’m looking forward to the 2013-14 season and facing any challenges head on.”

Howland, who joined the Ole Miss staff in 2010, has helped the Rebels advance to the NCAA Regionals in each of her three seasons and helped the Rebels to four top-10 finishes last spring.

“Our team has a successful summer on and off the course and I am so looking forward to see what our players can do this year,” said Howland. “The support from our administration is like none other in the country and I am so thankful for the confidence that Michele and the administration have in me to name me associate head coach.  I feel so blessed to be a part of this program and I’m looking forward to great things to come.”

A two-time (2005, 2009) member of the LPGA Tour and an eight-year member of the LPGA Duramed Futures Tour, Howland has taken part in more than 120 events and has posted 11 top-10 finishes, highlighted by medalist honors at the 2007 Louisiana Pelican Classic. She ranks in the top 50 among the tour’s career money winners.  Howland also participated in the 2008 U.S. Women’s Open.

The Rebels kick off the 2013-14 season at the Cougar Classic, in Charleston, S.C., Sept. 8-10. Ole Miss will be making its seventh consecutive appearance at the fall event which annually features some of the top teams in the country.
