OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team returns to action this weekend, playing in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina at the UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel, Hill, N.C.
The tournament will take place Friday through Sunday and will include 18 teams and five ranked teams: Arkansas, No. 13 Auburn, Baylor, Central Florida, Colorado, No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Michigan, No. 7 Michigan State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, No. 16 NC State, South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest.
“After good practices and the Rebel III Qualifying Challenge we are ready to compete,” said head coach Michele Drinkard. “I’ve been seeing some of the best energy from the team and that is exciting to take with us to UNC.”
The Ole Miss fivesome who will be competing this weekend includes Haley Sanders, Ericka Schneider, Taelor Rubin, Alison Hovatter and Abby Newton. Newton will be the first to tee off tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. while Sanders will be last, teeing off at 10:06 a.m.
The Tar Heel Invitational marks the third tournament for the Rebels during its fall season. Ole Miss’ best finish of the season was a sixth-place finish two weeks ago at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo.
