TEE TIME: Taelor Rubin Talks Landfall Tradition Freshman Returns To Her Home State With Rebels
Oct. 27, 2011
Members of the Ole Miss women's golf team will provide fans a look inside the team during the 2011-12 season. Freshman Taelor Rubin checks in from her home state of North Carolina where the Rebels are competing in the Landfall Tradition.
Hey there Rebel fans,
This week the Ole Miss women's golf team traveled to my home state of North Carolina. We are playing in the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington. As a freshman it is still a little weird playing a tournament just a quick drive away from my house and not visiting.
Our team had a very quick turnaround after coming home from Knoxville, Tenn., on Sunday night and heading right back out two and a half days later. Once we finally got on the road all of our school worries were over and we were focused on the tournament ahead.
After we landed in Wilmington we headed out to dinner at Carrabba's, even if we did take a few wrong turns along the way. The hotel we are staying at is right on the ocean, which makes for a calm weekend. The course is beautiful with several holes right on the intercoastal waterway, which makes for a scenic route around the golf course.
During the practice round today, I was lucky enough to play in the college am with a group of some amazing golfers. My group ended up going 18-under and won the gross score for the college am. There was an amazing banquet at the course with great food and a hilarious video with all of the teams doing random things that the camera people told us to do. Our part was probably the best with all of us using our head covers as pom poms and chanting the fight song.
