OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team, ranked No. 16 in the nation by Golfweek magazine and No. 7 in the latest Golfstat rankings, will participate in the Memphis Intercollegiate Nov. 1-3 at the Windyke Country Club in Germantown, Tenn.
The tournament field includes the host school Memphis, Alabama, Arkansas, Arkansas- Little Rock, Arkansas State, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Penn State, Princeton, Purdue, South Florida, Southern Mississippi, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky.
Ole Miss has recorded three top five and four top 10 finishes in four fall tournaments, including a first-place finish at the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate (Oct. 3-4). The Lady Rebels came in second at their last tournament, the Beacon Woods Invitational (Oct. 9-11). Ole Miss has a stroke average of 300.90 and fired a low round of 287 at the Lady Seminole Classic, a new Lady Rebel record.
Megan Breen, a senior from Longwood, Fla., is ranked 27th nationally and seventh in the district by Golfstat. She leads Ole Miss with a 73.70 stroke average and one top five and four top 10 finishes. Breen captured medalist honors at the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate by shooting a 74- 71--145.
Robyn Rinaldo, a junior from Dade City, Fla., is ranked 32nd nationally and eighth in the district by Golfstat. She is second on the team with a 73.90 stroke average and three top five, three top 10 and four top 20 performances this year. Her best finish came at the Auburn Tiger Intercollegiate (Sept. 25-27), where she tied for second with a 69-74--143.
"The Memphis Intercollegiate will be a very difficult tournament," Ole Miss head coach Keil Purdom said. "We will be playing against several tough teams, but we have been working hard and are looking forward to participating in the tournament. This is our last event of the fall, so we would really like to have a good showing."
