No. 8 Rebels Edge No. 13 Navy in GARC Match
Jan. 29, 2018

OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 8 Ole Miss Rifle team improved to 5-2 in the Great America Rifle Conference, edging No. 13 Navy 4659-4657 in Annapolis Md., on Sunday.

SmallBore results...
In smallbore, Ole Miss shot a 2307, led by Randi Loudin, who scored a 580. Other individuals who counted for the score were Harley Gardner (577), Abby Buesseler and Emily Cock (573)

Air Rifle results...
In Air Rifle, the Rebels posted a 2352 to beat Navy by eight points. Freshman Kamilla Kisch shot a 590 to lead the Rebels. Jessica Haig (589), Emily Cock (588) and Harley Gardner (585) rounded out the scoring for Ole Miss.

Navy freshmen Luke Knollinger and Torrance King led the host Mids. Knollinger shot a 580 to pace Navy to a 2313 total in smallbore, while Kang fired a 592 in air rifle to lead them to a 2344.

Marsha's Minute...
"Sunday was a very close match and we are pleased to have come out on top," said head coach Marsha Beasley. The match could easily have gone the other way.  Navy is a tough place to shoot - there are some things about their facility that make it particularly challenging.  Navy's scores this semester have been well above what they were doing in the fall which also changed the dynamics of the match.

"Sophia Cuozzo's 576 in smallbore was a personal best and Abby Buesseler's 196 in kneeling was her collegiate best.  I always like to focus on personal bests.  Those are key to improvement.  The team members are doing a lot of things right.  We know what we need to work on and I am confident we will continue to improve."
