JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The No. 10 ranked Ole Miss rifle team shot a 4620 aggregate score in their match against No. 6 Jacksonville State Saturday at the Gamecock Rifle Range in the team’s final tune-up before next weekend’s NCAA Qualifier.
Jacksonville State finished with a 4670 in the match, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 26 in West Point, N.Y.
The Rebels, led by senior Kim Coffey, posted a 2290 in smallbore and a 2330 in air rifle. Coffey shot a 575 in smallbore and a 584 in air rifle.
“It’s not the score we wanted, but we learned things from the weekend,” head coach Valerie Boothe said. “Kim really helped the team this weekend by leading smallbore and being a leader in air.”
The Rebels will head to Lexington, Ky., next weekend for the NCAA Qualifier. The team’s score next weekend will count 50 percent of the total needed to qualify for NCAA Championships. The top eight teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships in March.
