OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss Rifle won a nail-biter against Memphis, 4650-4648, Sunday at the Ole Miss Rifle Range, to conclude the Great America Rifle Conference regular season 6-2. The Rebels equaled the 2010-11 squad for most match wins in a season.

The Rebels finished third in the GARC standings behind No. 1 ranked West Virginia and No. 3 ranked Kentucky.  The conference championships take place Feb. 23-24 at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Jessica Haig (591), Abby Buesseler (585), and Harley Gardner (585) contributed to the team score.

Memphis Contributors…

Memphis had two team members fire 580 in smallbore, Levi Clark and Matt Dorey. Leighton Dempster’s 592 was the high score for Memphis in air rifle.

Marsha’s Minute

“This was an interesting day,” said head coach Marsha Beasley.  While the overall score wasn’t where we want it to be, there were some excellent performances and the team did many things well. We are for happy for Abby to fire a 581 in smallbore and Kamilla a 595 in air rifle. Personal bests are an excellent measure of progress, and I am delighted we continue to set personal bests each match.”
