OXFORD, Miss. – In their final regular season competition, the No. 8-ranked Ole Miss rifle team topped Jacksonville State University in an NCAA Qualifier match Saturday at the Ole Miss Rifle Range. The Rebels fired a team score of 4665 to JSU’s 4639.

At 7-5, the Rebels set the school record for head-to-head matches, breaking the previous record of six set in the 2010-11 season. They also finished 6-2 in the Great American Rifle Conference, with their only conference losses coming to No. 1 West Virginia and No. 3 Kentucky.

Scores posted at the NCAA Qualifier will be averaged with the team's three best season scores from three different locations, and the top eight teams in the nation will advance to the NCAA Championships.

Freshman Kamilla Kisch fired a personal best 596 to lead the team in air rifle.  Freshman Abby Buesseler added a 592, while Emily Cock and Jessica Haig turned in a 588 and 587, respectively. Three Personal Best…

Marsha’s Minute…

“We put up a solid score Saturday,” said head coach Marsha Beasley. NCAA Qualifiers is a tough match as so much weight is placed on the results of one day.  I am proud that the team was able to put together a solid score, one that is on the high side of our team average. Regardless of how the NCAA qualifying sorts out, it was a great opportunity for the team to grow and learn. The experience will help us as we prepare for conference championships next weekend.”

The NCAA selections will be announced Wednesday at 4 p.m. CT. The Rebels will then head to Morgantown, West Virginia next weekend for the GARC Championships Feb. 24-25.
