Rifle Posts Season High
Nov. 6, 2017

OXFORD, Miss. –  Ole Miss Rifle posted a season-high 4664 in their Great America Rifle Conference meet at the University of Kentucky. The team’s aggregate score is just two points shy of the school record set in 2006.

Ole Miss came up short against No. 2 Kentucky. The Wildcats posted a team score of 4689.

Kentucky’s Freshman Takes the Lead…

Henrik Larsen, a freshman from Norway, led Kentucky with a 595 in smallbore, which tied Kentucky’s school record.  His 596 in air rifle also led the Wildcats.

Smallbore Results…

Kentucky took the lead in smallbore, scoring 2325 compared to a 2307 tallied by Ole Miss. Junior, Harley Gardner led the Rebels in smallbore firing a season best 584. Abby Buesseler (578) Jessica Haig (573) and Hayley Carroll (572) also contributed to the team score. Three Ole Miss freshmen, Emily Cock (579), Buesseler (578) and Kamilla Kisch (577) set PRs. Buesseler also posted a perfect 200 in prone.

Air Rifle Results…

Ole Miss air rifle shooters were led by freshmen Abby Buesseler and Emily Cock who both scored 592. Buesseler’s score was a personal best while Cock tied her personal best.  Jessica Haig (588) and Kamilla Kisch (585) also contributed to the team score.

Marsha’s Minute

“I saw several things in our match with Kentucky that I really liked,” said head coach Marsha Beasley.  Personal bests are always significant. Abby and Emily both had an 1170-plus aggregate score for the two events. Harley was very close to that level as well.  Almost everyone had pieces of their performance that looked very nice.

“We are working on performing well on every shot and I do think that is paying off. I'm looking forward to our match this coming weekend.”

Up Next…

The Rebels will travel to Jacksonville, Alabama to participate in the Gamecock Open.
