Several Rebels Celebrated At GARC Banquet

OXFORD, Miss. – Following the opening day of the 2012 Great America Rifle Conference Championships (GARC), the conference held a banquet Friday night at the Oxford Convention Center to recognize athletes from the conference for their accomplishments during the 2011-12 regular season.

The banquet witnessed several Ole Miss shooters earn conference honors and team recognition.

Sophomore Melissa Quartarone was selected to the GARC Smallbore second team, while senior Keely Stankey was an honorable mention selection in the same field.

In the GARC Air Rifle category, Stankey and Quartarone each were chosen to the second team, and sophomore Abbey Stanec received honorable mention honors.

The Rebel tandem of Quartarone and Stankey also were selected to the second team Combined All-GARC team.

Junior Kim Coffey represented Ole Miss as the Rebel Scholar Athlete of the Year.

The GARC Championships continue at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center Saturday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. with team smallbore competition.
